Overview

He opened a window on the unconscious where he said lust rage and repression battle for supremacy and changed the way we view ourselves. There are no neutrals in the Feud wars. Admiration, even Downright adulation, on one side; skepticism, even downright disdain on the other. This is not hyperbole A psychoanalyst who is currently trying to enshrine Freud in the pantheon of cultural heroes must contend with a relentless critic who devotes his days to exposing Freud's footsteps since he developed the cluster of theories he would give the name of psychoanalysis His fundamental idea that all and defenses against them, struggle for supremacy, as it were behind a person's back has struck many as a romantic, scientifically improvable notion The book proposedly represents Sigmund Freud as the main figure with whom psychological theory changed the thinking of the world.

About the Author

Saroj K. Pal, who was a professor in physical geography at Delhi University, is long acknowledged as a leading specialist on physical and mathematical aspects of geography in India. In his natural competence on physical geography, he has lectured and researched for more than 42 years including 37 years at Delhi University as well as at Jawaharlal Nehru University. Since geography is a bifocal subject having its domains in social aspects also in addition to physical, Prof. Pal has developed a keen interest in "human action-oriented approach" for dealing with socio-economic processes which when accompanied with enlargement of spatial functions lead to development. His publication in 1999 in two volumes on eight issues of socio-economic processes in India regarding their structures and growth in the last 50 years since 1950, provided him the impetus to work on a new strand of enquiry for analysing whether a country is on a developmental path or not, that requires the totality approach of geographical historiography.
