About the Author

Judkin Browning received his B.A. in history at Florida State University in 1996 and his M.A. in Public History at North Carolina State University in 1999, before completing his Ph.D. at the University of Georgia in 2006. Dr. Michael Thomas Smith received a B.A. in history from the University of North Carolina, an M.A. in American history from North Carolina State University, and his Ph.D. at Pennsylvania State University.
