Overview

Created by two dad-coaches, Let's Play Football is a story- and character-based picture book which works hand in hand with a limited-time FREE APP. Together, the book and app introduce the fundamentals of football to kids ages 3 to 6 (and their parents). This is the first of a planned "Let's Play Sports" series of media products for kids and families. For a limited time, the app is available for free from iTunes. The colorfully illustrated book is available from Amazon.com, LetsPlay-Football.com, and other retailers.

The Lets Play Football story focuses on a papa bear, his young cub and their passion for their favorite team, the Bears. The father-son journey takes them from training camp through game day as they learn together the rules of the sport and the culture of the game. Award-winning illustrators help bring the story to life with colorful and humorous interpretations of the world of football, offering lessons of strategy and sportsmanship that transcend the playing field. The beary-good players' names and personalities will be familiar to football fans, and pro ESPN football announcer Ron Jaworski narrates the action-packed story, and Merrill Reese, the radio voice of the Philadelphia Eagles, provides the energetic play-by-play announcement as the fans go crazy for their favorite team, in the iOS app edition.

We created Lets Play Football with one specific goal: to help teach kids, and parents, about the basic rules of the game, explains Richter. It hit me very early with my kids and those that I coach, that so many rules are incredibly difficult to explain and conceptualize. Lets Play started as a way to teach the rules in a fun and easy way. Richter and his own kids consult the glossary at the end of the book and the app to enhance their TV game watching experience. They find it easy to look up new words, especially during the commercials.

About the Author

Lets Play Football is a new project created by Jon Richter, a Philadelphia-based businessman, baseball coach and father of five. A graduate of Brown University and Tulane Law School, Richter has a unique spin on sports, parenthood, and the city of Philadelphia. He spearheaded a three-year project that involved converting his grandfather's collection of South Philadelphia parking lots into what is now the home of the Philadelphia Eagles: Lincoln Financial Field. With the experience he gained in this historic project, he was able to start pioneering internet live music company called nugs.net, which features thousands of todays top artists.
