CHAPTER 1

Matilda is usually a happy little girl. She has two best friends that love her no matter what and always try to make her laugh.

Sammie her cat is soft and cuddly and Charlie her dog is clumsy, silly, and always makes her smile.

They love to play and have fun!

One day Sammie and Charlie noticed that Matilda was very sad.

"Why are you so sad Matilda?" asked Sammie.

"Because I have sad thoughts," said Matilda.

This made Sammie and Charlie very sad too so they set out on a journey to find Matildas happiness.

On their way to find Matildas happiness they met Mr. Fish who looked very happy.

"How do you stay so happy Mr. Fish?" asked Charlie

"Follow me and Ill show you," said Mr. Fish.

"I live very deep under the water," said Mr. Fish. "Every once in a while a hook with a very juicy worm will come down to tempt me."

"There are times when I'm really hungry and want to bite the hook but sometimes that worm is filled with very sad thoughts and I know that if I bite that worm it will make me feel sad inside too."

"So every time the sad thought worm drops down to tempt me I just don't bite the hook," said Mr. Fish.

"You just don't bite the hook?" asked Sammie looking confused.

"But isn't that hard to do?" asked Charlie looking worried.

"But how do you not bite it?" asked Matilda looking very sad.

"It's very hard not to bite the hook especially when it's so tempting," said Mr. Fish.

"But I did that once and that hook and worm with those sad thoughts took me to a sad place that I didn't like and wouldn't let me go. Now I just don't bite the hook and let it go then I'm not sad."
