Legion's Universe: Prometheus at Large
He reaches down to my cot. We clasp hands, and with a long, sad look at the cot next to mine, he rasps, “Take it easy, buddy,” and exits the room without a backward glance. We both know what I must do. Not to be negative, but this is shaping up to be one lousy day.

Our universe is a strange and dangerous place, adrift in an infinite multiverse.

Consider, if you will, the phenomena of exploding suns, black holes, antimatter, vacuum energy, inflaton fields, quantum entanglement, wormholes, and the light-speed barrier that delays communication and movement in space.

Consider the improbable and seemingly random events that produced the “just right” conditions for life on earth, and ask why worldwide extinctions over the last half-billion years enabled the relatively recent emergence of human intelligence.

Consider why humans have not yet found any evidence of other spacefaring species, which begs the question: Why are we on this planet, in this universe, at this time, apparently alone?

Only Legion, a man of the twentieth century—now cloned and five hundred years old—can answer these and other questions as he uses his wits and superhuman abilities to fight his way to the stars.

Travel with Legion to the end of the expanding space of the Big Bang and confront extraterrestrial life in this galaxy and beyond. Watch him struggle to find happiness as a carbon copy of a human being, one whose memories and identity are transplanted from one host body to another. And witness his discovery of the origin and purpose of intelligent life in a quest fueled by the science we know and developments and discoveries to come.

About the Author

Some say Joel Benson looks human. But rest assured; he is as alien as a jellyfish. All we know is he arrived on earth in the mid-twentieth century and a couple decades later obtained an electrical engineering degree (mostly for grins, as he says earth technology is laughably primitive). He also has a law degree and has never lost a case—but his opponents are often abducted under strange circumstances and are usually found in corn fields babbling of bright lights and anal probes. His residence is fifty miles northwest of Chicago and is a shrine to science fiction and other interests. Bottom line: if you want to read a book published by a truly alien author, this is the guy for you.You can view his collection of props and costumes from the Red Dwarf British science fiction television series by searching his name at: www.reddwarf.co.uk. If you want to see his life-size Dr. Who Tardis, Dalek and Cyberman, you’ll have to visit him.
