When you walk along a white sand beach do you dream of spotting the glint of a golden Spanish doubloon amongst the bits of shell and coral? When you look out to the horizon can you almost see the billowing sails of swift pirate ships or the majestic galleons of the Royal treasure fleet?
Are there buried pirate treasures? Although most pirates spent their money as quickly as they stole it, there were often occasions when pirates buried their valuables before going into battle. If captured, few pirates wanted to be caught with incriminating evidence. Since most pirates died suddenly and unexpectedly (many were killed in battle, hundreds drowned, and many succumbed to disease), it is safe to say that great fortunes were buried on lonely beaches by roving pirates who never returned.
This is the story of the romantic, glorious, and bloody age of pirates; of the treasures they left; and is written for every child who knows the world is wide and full of infinite possibilities, and for every adult whose spirit can rise childlike in quest of impossible dreams.
