About the Author

I used to work for a number of years in the computer room of a bank and then worked with the installation of their networks, so my process of thought was, and had to be logical. I started teaching with BSM for three years before I became an independent instructor. When I started teaching trainees I found myself, in a great number of cases, having to go over things time & time again with some trainees. I thought if I could get the trainee to know what was involved, say to turn left, before I asked them to perform a turn left, then it should be easier for them to do so.

This is why I devised the routines that are in my book for every part of driving, that way the trainee would learn faster and I would have a good day at the office. If a trainee knows how to turn left, in their head, then it should be easier for them to make that turn, without me having to say you missed that mirror check, or you left the clutch down as you went round, etc.

When I first make contact with a new driver I send them (through email) the 'Abbreviations' and the routines to 'Turn left, Turn right to go and Turn right to stop' and ask them to be able to repeat them back to me when I eventually meet them, if they can, then it's great to see how they put it into practise, if they cannot, then I have to take my time and teach them the normal way through trial & error.

Every time we move on to something new I give them the routine for that particular exercise, and so on. This is where the Virtual Driving comes in, they can sit at home and go through each exercise in their mind with that routine, so that the next time we try it, they'll be aware of what to expect and there's not a lot of time spent talking about it in that lesson.

So there is a routine for every part of driving and once you know these routines driving becomes less stressful and should become more enjoyable with confidence. I have found this method very useful in achieving a Very High first time pass rate.

It took me years to create all the routines and in writing this book to the level it is now.

Enjoy driving, Enjoy life.
