John Steinbeck nació en Salinas, California, en 1902 y murió en Nueva York en 1968. John Steinbeck was born in Salinas, California, in 1902 and died in New York in 1968. After leaving Stanford Universitybefore graduating, he worked in jobs as diverse as laborer, farmer, bricklayer or night watchman. His work quickly achieved great success with critics and audiences, especially after Tortilla Flat (1935). He was a reporter during the Second World War, an occasional journalist, a film scriptwriter (he wrote the script for ¡Viva Zapata! and received three Oscar nominations), but above all he was one of the most important novelists of the twentieth century, author among many others of the unsurpassed novel The Grapes of Wrath (1939),Of Mice and Men (1937) and The Pearl (1948).
