Lali's Passage
Lali, a beautiful young Burmese lady, is 'discovered' by Lee who arranges with her 'mama sang' to take her to the States to embark on a modeling career. They get to San Francisco and hook up with Jeremiah who does a 'photo shoot'. Jeremiah is also smitten by the 'amber skin lady' and manages to dispose of Lee in his pursuit of her favors. Lali breaks free and finds herself alone in a strange land with no contacts and a tenuous handle on English.
Much transpires as we see Lali's inner strength and guile called into play within numerous challenging episodes, including her being kidnapped and then finding herself lost in a forest wilderness. The last sections of the story include a sojourn at a Native American camp, then back to SE Asia for a gripping treasure heist at a Burmese temple.

About the Author

Ken has published nine books. Each one is based on a unique subject. Lali's Passage is, as yet, his only novel - though there's another one in the works, which has some of the same characters. It will be called 'The Shannons' and is a three way Coup D'etat in Shan State, Burma (hence, the name). Ken was a lone American who came to SE Asia in late 20th century, with no prior contacts, no handle on the language, and little money. He got drawn to Burmese ladies, and developed a quirky romance with one in particular. It is Lali's character which steers the various adventures of the novel. Since hooking up with Lali, the author has developed a farmstead with over 60 avocado trees - all grown from seed. He is also in the throes of developing an outdoor rock climbing park (Boomerang) and a tent resort (Rim Rock) near his home in northernmost Thailand.
