Danger awaits on a covert mission where few are who they seem to be
When the daughter of a high-profile businessman disappears from an exclusive girls' boarding school, police detective Cate Reilly is tapped for an undercover assignment. It doesn't take her long to realize that beneath its veneer of polish
and wealth, Ivy Hill Academy harbors dark-and deadly-secrets. But the biggest shock of all? The only man she ever loved is also working at the school.
Zeke Sloan has never forgotten Cate, but now isn't the best time for their paths to cross again. When their two seemingly disparate agendas begin to intertwine-and startling connections emerge among the players-the danger escalates significantly.
But who is the mastermind behind the elaborate ruse? And how far will they go to protect their house of cards?

Hannon continues her Triple Threat series (after Point of Danger) with this enjoyable second chance romance between two undercover agents. Cate Reilly, detective for the St. Louis County Police Department, has been asked to go undercover at elite private girls’ boarding school Ivy Hill after one of its students, the daughter of a socialite, goes missing and evidence suggests she may have been kidnapped. DEA agent Zeke Sloan, who is also Cate’s first love, is also working at the school undercover as part of his investigation into a drug distribution ring. Cate and Zeke are shocked to see one another, and meet weekly to share information and figure out if the missing girl is somehow connected to the drug pipeline. They also admit they have unresolved feelings for one another. After Cate escapes an attempted abduction, she finally gets the information Zeke needs to tie everything together. The close calls also lead Cate and Zeke to see their reunion as a God-given opportunity to give love a second chance. Hannon’s winning inspirational thriller will please fans and newcomers alike. St. Louis County detective Cate Reilly swore off undercover work after her last assignment, but she's the only one in the department who can pass for a teenage girl. So she reluctantly agrees to infiltrate the prestigious Ivy Hill prep school and investigate the disappearance of two students. Beneath the polish of the rich and famous, Cate discovers a dark underworld including an inappropriate school counselor and a potential Cartel drug pipeline. But the case is even more complicated than she knows; her old flame Zeke Sloan is also undercover as a temporary Spanish teacher at the school and is working on the biggest case of his career. Neither undercover agent knows who to trust as they band together with Kayla, one of the few Black students at Ivy Hill, whose astute observations may crack the case wide open. VERDICT This is one of the best offerings by master of romantic suspense Hannon (Point of Danger). As a bonus, it could be read as a stand-alone. Fans of Lynette Eason, Dani Pettrey, and Lisa Harris will gobble this one up and ask for more.—Christine Barth, Scott Cty. Lib. Syst., IA
