Knit Together in Love
For a century and a half, those called to lead what has become the oldest and largest women's organization in the world have provided visionary leadership suited to the time. So what is the vision for today? In light of contemporary challenges, what impact can the Relief Society of the 1990s have in the lives of members who span the globe; who come in every age and shape; whose cultures, languages, and life experiences are as different as their values and beliefs are the same? Knit Together in Love: A Focus for LDS Women in the 1990s discusses why Relief Society is as vital to LDS women today as ever.
In outlining the mission of her presidency, President Elaine L. Jack and her counselors have identified five ways in which Relief Society can enrich the lives of its sisters - Build Personal Testimony, Bless the Individual Woman, Develop and Exercise Charity, Strengthen Families, and Enjoy a Unified Sisterhood. In this book, members of the Relief Society General Board elaborate on these areas and share their insights about the strength of a worldwide Relief Society sisterhood and the work of women that helps move the gospel forward.
Today's Relief Society organization is one of great diversity. Every individual has a unique mission to fulfill, yet each is a necessary part of a great whole.
Bound together in a unified sisterhood, there is no limit to what this organization of righteous women can accomplish- both in small, quiet, one-on-one ways, and in larger efforts aimed at making a difference in communities, countries, and even continents.
Knit Together in Love: A Focus for LDS Women in the 1990s gives timely insight into the difference Relief Society can make in the lives of women the world over.
