About the Author

Sharon Smith Kane has written and illustrated many classic picture books, including My Baby Sister, The Treasure Trunk, The Pet Parade, and the forever popular Little Mommy, which has remained in print for fifty years. An accomplished portrait artist, Ms. Kane lives in Plano, Texas.

A charming old-fashioned take on the everyday girl-and-cat story, the verses are sweet, but not cloying (although the text could have used more originality and humor). Author and illustrator Kane’s long and career began in comics, but continued through twenty-five picture books, including Little Mommy, which was reissued as a “Little Golden Book” classic.
