King of the Nine Hells
It is the time of the Dark Ages. A gravedigger works in the moor late one night to assemble a book of grotesque appearance. Its papyrus pages reveal the spells of a powerful demon. Finally, the man completes his task. The wicked tome helps him become the head of the most powerful - and most feared - family in a land to become known as Scotland.

Fifteen hundred years later the book becomes the stolen possession of a London dealer in fine and rare books. Henry is completely unaware, however, that what he's taken is more dangerous than anything he could imagine. Melanie Ashford, wife of Oxford University theologian, Dr. Peter Ashford, a man that possesses a deep knowledge of occult beliefs and practices, purchases the tome as a birthday present for Peter. Dinner over, Melanie rises from her dining room chair to retrieve his gift. She never comes back.

Made furious by what had happened to Melanie, Peter resolves to destroy the nearly ancient tome. Before he can, however, the book goes missing. Soon afterwards a cryptic message arrives for him...a terrifying invitation that bodes nothing good. At great risk to his very life, Peter travels to a forlorn location in western Scotland. Once there only one of the town's resident will help him find the person that sent him his invitation. Upon arriving at a desolate castle overlooking the ocean, Peter meets a man with strangely dark green eyes. He later comes to learn the book is even deadlier than he realized, posing an unimaginable threat to the entire world.

Time is running out. Peter is humanity's only hope for rescue as he now faces two antagonists - one human, one not - nearly losing his life several times as he struggles to locate and destroy a book that will try to stop him at all costs. The man is drawn into hell itself as he races to prevent a satanic Armageddon.

King of the Nine Hells is a two-time award winning book. The tale, largely free of gore and profanity, will nevertheless frequently cause the reader to feel highly unsettled, to say the least. Even dialog between characters is often chilling. There are vivid – fabulously scary – supernatural occurrences. Combined with an eminently sophisticated storyline the reader will be treated to a novel whose tension and cinematic appeal are off the chart. Imagine some of these scenes on the silver screen as you go. Inspired by J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series, this book is not, however, for children. Many of its pages are far too intense for young minds but well suited to those that love complex, flat-out frightening yet also elegant tales of the supernatural. Please enjoy the work with my very best wishes!

About the Author

Mr. Klein became a novelist subsequent to his retirement as a technical marketing director, evaluating product markets to include specialty chemicals, specialty materials, advanced materials, high-performance minerals and thin-film coatings among many others. Almost throughout his career he was responsible for the research and development of new business opportunities for operating companies as well as for clients of Stanford Research Institute. Upon his retirement Mr. Klein has thrice become an award-winning author. In his private time leading up to his interest in constructing novels, he had developed a strong interest and admiration of the works of Michael Crichton and Sir Author Conan Doyle.

Inspired by the intellectual sophistication of these stellar authors, Mr. Klein also prepared works embodying high-concept story lines. He has now completed two such novels for the secular market as well as, interestingly, a striking three-part Christian thriller - The Prophecy Cave - inspired by the classic movie, Raiders of the Lost Ark. He has also penned The Jerusalem Stone, a story of redemption that brings a former but still atheistic Marine Scout sniper to Christ along a pathway so unusual you may well finish your reading of the book in one day. If you choose to read one or more of my works, thank you and please do so with my very best wishes!
