Ercel Ellis Jr. has been a writer and editor for the Blood Horse and the Daily Racing Form and worked on the broadcasting shows Post Time and Horse Tales radio shows for more than sixty years; he has also recorded a CD of readings from Joe Palmer's This Was Racing. Born into the Thoroughbred horse business, he has been an owner, breeder, trainer, writer and broadcaster. He won the Kentucky Thoroughbred Owners and Breeder's prestigious Charles W. Engelhard Award for contributions to the Thoroughbred industry and is an honorary member of the Kentucky Thoroughbred Farm Managers Club.
