About the Author

A native of Crockett, Texas, Kathy is a lawyer, cook, cake decorator, author, and photographer. She received her B. A. in Economics from the University of Oklahoma, and her J. D. degree from the University of Oklahoma School of Law. She practiced law for 39 years before retiring in 2019 from the Department of Defense with a Superior Civilian Service Award under her belt for the great number of trials she won. Kathy, a self taught cook, began competing for a coveted spot in the Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest in the 1990s, and her original recipes were chosen by Pillsbury for the competitions in 2000, 2002, 2009, and 2012. Her original Pecan Pie Ginger Cheesecake recipe won the dessert category at the Pillsbury Bake-Off in 2002. Kathy's recipes have been published in multiple Pillsbury cookbooks, in newspapers, magazines, and other publications. An accomplished photographer, Kathy has won ribbons at photography shows and has been published in a national camera magazine. Numerous decorated cake pictures of Kathy's have been published in a national cake decorating magazine as well. When they're not traveling around the world, Kathy and her husband, Rick, reside in Edmond, Oklahoma.
