Years ago, Hadley was supposed to be Zach's date for the prom when she and her family were whisked away into the Federal Witness Protection Program. Now her father is in trouble again, and Hadley turns to Zach for help. Cook reveals Hadley's trepidation about seeing Zach after having disappeared on him. Clarke is equally able to show Zach's frustration with her. On the run with Hadley is her teenage sister; each narrator uses a youthful voice for her. Once Zach's protective instincts kick in, Clarke deepens his tone, intensifying it. The team successfully swaps narration duties without disrupting the flow of the story.
