About the Author

Almost eight years ago I found out I was pregnant with my son. I was only seventeen years old I was incredibly shaken. I thought my life would never be the same and it wasn’t. Having a baby during your teen years does change your life forever. But it doesn’t have to ruin your life.

Today I am in my mid-twenties, happily married, a college graduate and a proud mother of two beautiful sons. I am also a Public Health advocate and strongly believe in voicing my story to encourage young women to make the right decisions in their sexual encounters. I want young women to know that every decision has a consequence. As proud and happy as I am about my story turning out the way it has, there are many more stories that do not.

Behind every teen pregnancy there is a story. I hope my story helps young women who are not pregnant from making the same poorly thought out decisions I made. I also hope my story can encourage young women who have already become mothers to understand that a hurdle is meant to be jumped over. The race of your life doesn’t stop because a hurdle comes along instead I want to encourage young women to find their wings and fly.
