About the Author

Dawn Compton wears many hats as a wife, mother, author, and advocate. She holds a Master’s degree in nursing and has been a Registered Nurse for sixteen years. She has a passion for advocacy and worship, and is currently working toward establishing a Child Advocacy Center in the county in which she resides in Mississippi.


Amanda Schrader resides in Texas and is spending her days focusing on her family and her writing. She has a passion for advocacy and ministry. She loves sharing her testimony every chance she gets because it witnesses to the mercy of God.


The authors penned their memoir, Nursing the Wounds, which details the amazing way that God united them - first at a chance encounter one summer, then seventeen years later as nurses and survivors who were led to cofound Voice for the Silenced. Jumping Ship is the authors’ second book to write together.
