Overview

Heart of Darkness is one of Joseph Conrad's rare and genuine masterpieces; an engrossing work of artistry deserving of the label in a thousand different ways. It can be found on countless lists of the finest literary works of all time, and is one of his major achievements. As a central device, the parallel journey into both the heart of Africa--and the dark center of the human psyche, remain as transcendent as ever in this beautifully realized 21st century digital edition.

JOSEPH CONRAD (1857-1924) wrote stories and novels, often with nautical settings that depict trials of the human spirit in the midst of an uncaring universe. He was a master prose stylist who brought a distinctly tragic sensibility to his modernist literature. He is known to have influenced D.H. Lawrence, William Faulkner, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway T.S. Eliot and Philip Roth.
