Overview

Jonathan Ray and his Superhero Pack wait after school each day in their Pack Tree House for Holly the hummingbird to stop by and alert them of the latest kid villains character conflict for the pack to solve. Holly informs the Superhero Pack that Brittany Bane and her accomplice, Marilee, are bullying sweet Megan Mae. The pack of four superhero kids and their pets remind their two classmates of Ms. Huckleberrys lessons at school about being bully-free. The Superhero Pack shows them that the way to be a real superhero is to be a kind, bully-free person of character. Author Franny Vergo demonstrates to children, through her creative, rhyming story, that kindness is the special power we need in life.

Chapter One

The four superhero kids are talking after school at Croak's Creek about Ms. Huckleberry's great lessons on bullying this week.

Jonathan Ray states, "I hope our class takes it seriously and follows Ms. H's lead." Bella Blu adds, "Yes, well at least Ms. Huckleberry has planted the bully-free seed."

Then Krista Kate yells, "Five!" for the number of toads that she sees, and Paco Pete shouts, "You're the winner!" still searching on his knees.

After, the kids each hurry home to grab their superhero pet and head to Pack Tree House at four.

They're anxious to get to their tree house, in leader Jonathan Ray's backyard, to see what new conflict is in store.

Bella Blu picks up Lacey, her sweet Doxie dog, and Paco Pete grabs Fred, the quick, green, jumping frog.

Sammy, the teddy bear hamster, joins her owner, Krista Kate, while Jonathan Ray gets Gil the gecko, who's standing up straight.

Once in their big tree house, the four kids give their pets a tasty treat. Then the kids get some chocolate, so they're energized for their next feat.

The kids recite a chocolate poem before they eat their snack, which is a little sweet, so it keeps them alert and on track.

"We are four chocolate lovers! We eat chocolate every day! We can't wait till after school For our chocolate snack! Hooray!"

Then Holly the hummingbird drops by, as they gulp their chocolate down, and the kids come to quick attention when they see Holly's frown.

She alerts the Superhero Pack, saying, "There's a bully down at Langston Town Park." Holly informs them, "Brittany Bane is bullying Megan Mae, who is an easy mark."
