Jonathan & Roscoe is a story about a boy who wanted a dog and had to learn the responsibilities that went along with it. The family shared the love for the dog as well as the responsibility for his care. When Jonathan forgot his responsibility, the story tells what happened. A hard lesson with a fortunate ending. This story is one in a series of books that show life lessons about family, relationships in the family, and responsibility. Dad plays a prominant role in all of the stories in this series because H. Ferebee Shephard believes that dad should, and in many cases does play a prominant, if not dominant role in the family. The story is an easy read for children & parents.

H. Ferebee Shephard is the owner of a literacy based, Elementary preparatory school in Pearland Texas. Jonathan & Roscoe is a story based on true family experiences as his sons grew up. He believes that Dad should play an important role in the family. All of his stories depict family relationships that include Dad and focus on his involvement in a positive light.
