David, son of Jesse, was one of the most amazing men in the Bible. He killed lions and bears. He stayed out in the wilderness all by himself looking after his father's sheep. He was the youngest of seven brothers who didn't like him very much. To most folks he was just another country kid who would grow up doing just what his family had done for generations before him. But not this David! He grew to become an amazing man who had the ability to destroy giants and put enemies of God on the run. With his gentle hand on his harp, he could quiet the troubled mind of the King. Some men loved him, others hated him, but God said David was a man after His own heart. He became the most loved King of all of Israel. How could an ordinary man like David be someone the Almighty God of the heavens would love so much? I believe it all began with the wonderful love and guidance given by Jesse, David's dad. Jesse loved God and implanted that love into the heart of his youngest son.
