Jess is a 50-year-old, modern day, working cowboy who finds himself all alone in an isolated cow camp in northern Nevada. This is the kind of lifestyle that he has always loved, but now, reflecting on his past life, he is afraid that he has wasted his life riding horses and looking after someone else's cattle. He recalls some of the outrageous acts of disregard for our public lands and wildlife that he has witnessed during his years of working on ranches. When the wealthy rancher that he is presently working for attempts to overgraze range that he is leasing from the U.S. Forest Service, Jess makes a stand against him. Jess's simple act of defiance produces surprising results. Along the way on his adventure filled quest, he meets a woman who will change his life forever.
