Overview

London, October 1992, a Japanese man entered a government building near Chancery-lane and made his way up to an office on the first floor. This was the London branch of the UK's patent office. This man was there on behalf of Japan's renowned Shimizu Corporation. A leading architectural and engineering firm that was and is among the top in the world. He was there to apply for a patent. To secure their ideas globally, it was necessary to apply not just in Japan.

This particular patent was for no ordinary idea. It was for something grand, something spectacular. The idea was to build giant pyramids in the middle of some of the largest and busiest urban centers in the world starting with Tokyo. These infrastructures would be so large, they could house entire cities.

But why? What was this for, and who exactly is the Shimizu corporation?

About the Author

My name is Alae Oundir, i was born on January 13, 1990. Currently a physics student at the University of Pennsylvania State, USA. I really like science, I believe in the power of science and what it really brings to humanity, I'm not talking about applied science. I am originally from North Africa, Morocco specifically. My mother died when I was 11 and my father (from New York) has managed to give me an excellent education despite having to deal with a boy angry with life. I am a very restless person, I usually sleep during a part of the day (when I do not have to go to college) and stay awake at night because i have the theory, the brain is more active and, above all, more focused on what I want to do. Therefore my nights will serve as moments to make my creativity flourish and to be able to offer interesting stories.
