About the Author

The author Mark Ricketts is an economist and publisher. He has been a University lecturer in banking, economics, business and finance, Deputy Chairman of Jamaica's Stock Exchange and was Chief Economist at the Vancouver Board of Trade, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He was the publisher of the business and financial weekly magazine, The Money Index and he started a daily newspaper The Jamaica Record.
At University he was editor and publisher of a weekly magazine and after leaving the University of the West Indies he was an Assistant Editor of the Financial Post, Canada's largest weekly business and financial newspaper. Most recently in 2010 he edited the book Between Those Hills of Western Jamaica.
As a first year student at Jamaica College he broke four school records in sprinting and long jump, the long jump record held for 12 years. At Calabar High School he represented his school in soccer and track and field and was a triple jumper on the team that won the Championship trophy.
