Read an Excerpt

Jacob Nathaniel Elordi is an Aussie. No, silly, not the heckin cute puppers, but someone from Down Under. You know, from Oz. Not like The Wizard of Oz, but Australia. Jacob was born in Brisbane, Australia, and he’s one proud Ozzie (sounds like Aussie). As a kid, he idolized Heath Ledger, Nicole Kidman, and Hugh Jackman (all Aussies). Speaking of Ledger, Elordi told The IMDB Show’s “Take Five with Jacob Elordi” episode that “Australian to Australian, [he] makes me feel like movies are, like, something really, really special.” Keeping it real in Oz!

Of course, there’s also that swoony accent.

One of the things we love about Oz is the adorbs names they have for everything. Lipstick is lippy, a garbage man is a garbo, and a truck is a ute. I mean, come on. More on that later, since we’re getting a bit ahead of ourselves. Back to the subject at hand!

Jacob went to secondary school at St. Kevin’s College in Toorak (Melbourne), and then to study acting, he attended St. Joseph’s Nudgee College in Boondall.

Not only is JE grounded by his love of all things Aussie, but the solid support of his family also grounds him.

Jacob says his fam are his best friends on the planet. “There was never a moment when they didn’t support me. They put me through every class and bought me every book. They let me watch any movie (and) let me take days off school to work on auditions.”

So there’s his ’rents, John and Melissa, and his older brother, Michael. His sister, Isabella, is a dancer, and in the interest of keeping it all in the family, they moved to Melbourne in 2015 when she won a place at the Australian Ballet School. Sis even said she was going to move to Los Angeles to help Jacob cope with his newfound fame.

But before we go trotting off around the globe, let’s start at the beginning. Jacob perfected an American accent by fourth grade, when he rapped an Eminem song at school, and it was clear he had talent! Years later at Nudgee, he read hundreds of plays, so our mate has honed his craft!

Slowly but surely, the right people took note. JE booked a few parts in short films, and even had an uncredited, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it part as a Saint Martin’s Marine in 2017’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Our man Jacob then went west and landed the starring role in The Kissing Booth. Jacob’s turn as Noah Flynn catapulted him into super fame in 2018, and suddenly his name was on the tip of every tongue in Hollywood. In TKB, Noah falls for his younger brother’s best friend, with more than a few fistfights along the way. There’s strife because Elle (BFF) and Lee (bro) made a childhood pact they’d never date each other’s siblings. Okayyyyyy . . . Seems a bit wonky of Lee to hold Elle to that years later, especially since he’s now got an adorable new GF himself. But hold her to it he does, and Noah is left with bossing Elle around and thrashing anyone who insults her as his main form of affection. But guess who can pull off playing a fierce hothead and still pour on the charm?

Jacob Elordi, that’s who! So charming, he got the girl both on-screen AND off-screen (more on that later!). Other offers came pouring in, so we can look forward to a lot more Elordi in our lives!
