About the Author

I have been writing since I was 7. My mom would instill Christian values in her children by having us to write a 500-word essay on the 10 Commandments when we did something wrong. She would let me express myself however I felt, and it became a joy instead of punishment, to write about the Bible. Today I am still a Bible scholar; my research is documented in over 30 study notebooks. I have 5 beautiful grands, 3 girls and 2 boys, who I love to write about. I especially love to write about my baby grandson, who has the charisma of a china doll. He is 8 going on 20. Poems such as "I Got A Problem, and "Can He See Me..." takes you into the wonderful world of being grandma. I am a faithful Christian, and I give God all the glory for all that I am. Born and raised in Orlando, FL.

Chapter One

THE 'heart of man'

What is in the 'heart of man?'
Who can fathom or try and understand
When the world is full of complicated things
Mixed emotions, gladness, sorrows, and farsightedness it brings?

One day he feels he's on top of the world
The next day, insolence, and revile actions he hurls
What has caused this sudden divulgence?
Of a different side of him, well kept but now an occurrence

Why was his heart so easily broken?
When God, sent His Son, to be as the token
No one would know hurt, better than Him
When His prize creations, treat others' feelings so slim

A balance He created for man to avoid
Being divided and pulled in such a way that he is destroyed

A true heart would consist of the ways of the LORD
Anything less, man just simply cannot afford,
To be without the glory that it brings
To God, the creator, of e • ve • ry • thing

1st to God we are to love, mind, body and soul
2nd to our neighbor, this is our next important role
To be in compliance with God's eternal plan,
Is what He expects in the THE 'heart of man' ~

1 Corinthians 2: 9 BUT AS IT BUT is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 1 Corinthians 2: 11 FOR WHAT MAN FOR knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

A FRIEND

What is the rating for a friend?
One who will stick with you through thick and thin?
What is the rating of God's love?
He'll send you a friend with sincere ness like the Father from
above

One who will help you grow in grace
Help uphold you in times you can't face

One who will agree to disagree, on subjects of the heart
And when others rebuke you, this will cause no part

One that can be honest, and tell you the truth
One that will hold on to you like Naomi and Ruth

One who loves the LORD, with the whole heart and soul
One who lives by His Word, teaching the gospel, being so bold

We all need friends, and yes that is true
But Godly friends, like a dime a dozen
Are so rare and so few ~

Philippians 2: 2 FULFILL YE MY joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Philippians 2: 13 FOR IT IS God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

A SIMPLE REQUEST

Was on the phone
With one of five grands
When little did I know
That the smallest had plans

Trying to wait and,
Doing his very best
To hold on to the end
To make 'A Simple REQUEST'

For he had been good
For that whole day
And now it was time
For 'grandma' to pay

What he thought that was owed
Just to him
Not even considering that
It was four more of them

This smallest of five who
His 'grandma' told to pray
To God, for him to be good and honest
Each and every day

Was obedient and tried
To really do his best
To honor and revere
'Grandma's Simple REQUEST' ~

Psalm 5: 3 MY VOICE SHALT thou hear in the morning O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. Philippians 4: 6 BE CAREFUL FOR nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Elena

Born with her mother's whys, when she was a little child
Bound and determinate, yet still meek and mild

This one with concerns, of the fairness of everything
Well why should this be?
In her small voice she'd sing

I need to know now, the reason behind this thing and that
Without taking consolation, until you've give her the real fact

Little 'Einstein' she is, with all her childish charms
Concerns for the innocence of things, and so, she does no harm

Gradually growing, into such a sweet adorned bloom
Like a flower that's planted, in her parent's eyes she'll always loom

~

Proverbs 23: 24 THE FATHER OF the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him. Proverbs 23: 25 THY FATHER AND thy mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice.

FELLOWSHIP

What
a wonderful gift that there is
When saints can fellowship together
Where love is peace, and harmony
And joy is the understanding of one another

True feelings are expressed
Without reservation
Beliefs are also shared
Without hesitation

Someone becomes closer
Ones are now closer than just friends
Sister and brothers, mothers and fathers
Cannot comprehend

Encouragement is always
At the top of the list
It comes before downfalls
And balls of fists ~

Philippians 2: 3 LET NOTHING BE done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Philippians 2: 4 LOOK NOT EVERY man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Philippians 2: 5 LET THIS MIND be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Growing Pains of a Family

Why does a family's love have to flow?
When all the members, each know
Like a flower grows and then fades away
So does a family's love when it goes astray

But this was not at all in God's plan
When He scooped the dust from the ground
And created man
He said to himself, he should not be alone
A woman He made, from one of his bones

Then He said to both, this is what you should do
Multiply, bring more life, other than you

This was the start of a new community
The name of this group was called, a family
This group was to grow, and be in harmony
This group of people called, a family

But it did not come without some pains
For trusting and loving have sometimes caused some strains

You see it was evident that each had some faults
That none one of them claimed,
So no remedy was sought
But God in His wisdom left a Book that explained
How in a family, someone would be pained

Instructions detailed how to solve everything
If each member would love each other the same
As He did His people, when He gave up His Son

FORGIVE, NO MATTER, WHAT EACH ONE HAS DONE ~

Proverbs 24: 3 THROUGH WISDOM IS a house builded; and by understanding it is established:

Proverbs 15: 1 A SOFT ANSWER turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

' JUST SAY SO '

Why wait till' I can't hear you?
Don't wait to say adieu
When the only thing that's left of me
Is put in a box to view

I love to smell the roses
Especially in full bloom
I love to hear the sound of nature
Particularly from where birds loom

I enjoy seeing young children
As they go out to play
I like to watch them, learn new things,
See them growing more each day

I love people with compassion
And will share it from their hearts
I love the love of Jesus Christ
Through death he does not depart

Why wait to hear these things from me
So that, you may know
The love I'll have for you

So why don't you, ' Just Say So ' ~

Proverbs 15: 4a A WHOLESOME TONGUE is a tree of life: Colossians 4: 6 LET YOUR SPEECH be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. James 4: 14b FOR WHAT IS your life? It is even a vapor, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. Philippians 4: 8 FINALLY, BRETHREN, WHATSOEVER things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Eighteen years ago
I held you in my hands
What a joyous occasion
You were the first of my grands

And through the years, there have been struggles
Thank God they were minor and few
I always was so proud, and in fact, I always knew

That you would be this young lady
Standing tall with your head held straight
And that making it to eighteen,
Would be an awaited grand date

For all to celebrate!!!! ~

Psalm 111: 10 THE FEAR OF the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth forever. Proverbs 1: 8 MY SON, HEAR the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother: Proverbs 1: 9 FOR THEY SHALL be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck. Ephesians 6: 1 CHILDREN, OBEY YOUR parents in the Lord: for this is right. Ephesians 6: 2 HONOR THY FATHER and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;

Ephesians 6: 3 THAT IT MAY be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

ONE OF THOSE TIMES

Today is far spent in my mind,
For it is one of those times

When love becomes pain
And today nothing will be the same
Because it's time to say goodbye
To a friend whose been by my side
And as hard as it is to do, I must try
For her love in me, will abide

BUT: It's just one of those times

LORD, I need you to hold my hand
Because right now I just can't stand
To have to let her go
And yet Lord I do know
That I will see her again
When the pains of life will end
And life will be anew
And the skies will be full of dew

The dew of Jesus's own love
Sent by the Father from above
That will make this day seem far away
And in my heart right now is what I pray
To hear myself say "Hello Friend,
It's really good to see you again"

But for now, this very minute
For, this moment in my life
It's just, 'ONE OF THOSE TIMES'
LORD, I need you; it's one of those times ~

2 Timothy 4: 8 HENCEFORTH THERE IS laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Prayin' For A Friend

I'm prayin' for a friend whose fate was like Jb's
I'm prayin' for a friend; whose answers are interposed

If they would only have eyes
To see what no one else could see
They'd say is that mine? Is that all just for me

They'd hear with their ears
What no one else could hear;
They'd see the Word, is speaking to them
Of an assurance that's so near

For the thoughts of man, are so simple and too plain
And the omniscient thoughts of God, He does not have to explain
Just know that they're there and with faith that is strong
Believing in Jesus Christ, nothing ever can go wrong

But I'm still prayin' for a friend, who'll take this thought to heart
They have a friend who's prayin', and believes for them new starts
~

Ephesians 3:20, Hebrews 11:6, Romans 8:28

James 5: 16 CONFESS YOUR FAULTS one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Isaiah 55: 8 FOR MY THOUGHTS are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

THE HEART OF A CHILD

Suffer not the little children, and let them come to me
For it's what's in the heart of children, that God wants in us to see

For we all are God's children no matter how big or small
We all are born sinners, caused by the first Adam's fall

But this one particular child, would bring tears to grandma's
eyes
When showing concern, after a spanking; grandma' could have
died!

Spare not the rod is crucial, for God's commands say that is so
But it's just harder for grandma, when it takes away her
grandbaby's glow

With tears still dangling, from the corners of her face
AHH CHOOO!! "Bless you grandma"
The sincereness, my heart can never erase

The look, the love, which was shown, in a caring smile
Showed me how God's love was seasoned, in THE HEART OF
A CHILD ~

Hosea 6:7, Romans 5:15, 2 Corinthians 15:45

Proverbs 22: 6 TRAIN UP A child in the way he should go: and when his is old, he will not depart from it.

THE ART OF OTHERS

Like an art piece we are exhibited, to the world each day
With our colors and textures, our very fabric being on display

The mind shows the meaning, the heart invents the leading
To what the picture is trying to relay

We are all born in an image that was set
IN HIS, TRUE FORM, lest we forget

That if we take offense, of any other man
Not only are we judging, but criticizing God's creation plan

How in His deliberations, He decided that all was good
Not only did He command, but adorned it only as He could
For no other, would be able to model and form this clay
As the Potter, mould everything into existence, in only six days

And bring to life, a wonder, an honour to behold
A world of righteous beauty, was His main goal
And to show, how proud He is, of all his gathering
All would pronounce His Glory, in THE ART
OF OTHERS, and of everything ~

Psalm 8: 4 What IS MAN, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

Psalm 8: 5 FOR THOU HAST made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honor.

PAIN IN A FAMILY

In a lonely world you sit
Fading within yourself bit by bit
Solitude you've created as your den
Coming out for air every now and then

Making God your solace friend
This is how it'll be until the end
He's the only one in whom you'll put your trust
Your family, a myth, and stay away they must

You've lost your love, and will to forgive
When your love one died, you ceased to live
Your joyous life so full of mirth
Now you exist, in a life of hurt

I pray for you, I love you so
If only you, would let me show

How a family never lets things pile so high that it can't see
That it's good to say 'Hello' once in a while, bridge the gap, and let
bygones be ~

Mark 11:25

IT WAS YOU

Wondering at times when I sit alone to think
How things can change from good to bad, in just a simple wink

Why didn't I see it coming, am I somehow so blind?
To everything around me, wasn't there some kinda sign?

Of pending circumstances, those that are far beyond my reach?
Didn't mama's lessons prepare me,
When often she would shake her finger at me and teach?

'That trials would come my way, it's just a part of life's designs
For you to see how much to God, that you would look to find'

IT WAS YOU LORD, who was there to hold my hand
IT WAS YOU LORD, who would teach me how to stand

You have given me a purpose
A service to Your domain
By passing all tribulations
Would bring glory to Your Name

It was You Who was there in the beginning
And
It'll be You Who's there in the end
And
It'll be You to Whom Your Saints we'll be gathered

When alas, Your Son descends
AMEN' ~
