This part of the adventure focuses on the romance between shape-shifting Riley and immortal Doyle. Both are resistant to love, especially as the search continues for the last star. Maarleveld masterfully captures each of the six individual characters—from Doyle’s Irish accent to Annika’s innocent wonderment and to Riley’s practical, no-nonsense manner. The listener can easily envision the battles that the characters go through on their quest in the rich landscape. Maarleveld treats the listener to a satisfying conclusion to this trilogy.
