I am an only child of a divorced marriage whose earliest memories were of complete and agonizing, ENVY. Envying being old at the age of 3 is not normal. The freedom of adulthood became both coveted and tragically out of reach from the moment I was able to comprehend speech. Shortly after, I became very aware of my role; be as silent as a house slave; observe, speak only when spoken to, and maybe, if I was lucky, learn a little. Like the Karate Kid, I spent most of my childhood waxing-on and waxing-off, not realizing that while I was cleaning my parents' (and their friends' cars), I was silently learning. I was learning that it is difficult to learn whilst talking.

Reading should be a fun and filthy pleasure. If you read this book, prepare to get your hands dirty. Hands so dirty that if you wanted to make a fist, you could not. Why? Because your hand was so dirty that your hand did not want to touch the rest of your hand. Yes, that dirty.
