About the Author

TD CONNER is a lifelong downtowner. “As a kid, I’d go to the store for a quart of milk and have a chance to study works of art,” he says. “I’d head for the park to play basketball with the guys and have some of the world’s most exquisite architecture at my fingertips. I’d walk sidewalks trod by swashbucklers, slaves, soldiers, charlatans, tycoons and the prettiest women this side of the Mason-Dixon.” He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1967, attending the University as classmate, drinking buddy and fellow sportswriter with the late, great Southern humorist Lewis Grizzard.
