RALPH SPILLER is Editor of Handelsblatt, Germany's business and financial daily newspaper, and Co-ordinator of a supplement series on the enlargement of the EU.

JOACHIM WEIDEMANN formerly correspondent at Handelsblatt in middle and eastern Europe, is currently Director of the Georg von Holtzbrinck School of Journalism and internal advisor to the Handelsblatt publishing group.
