About the Author

Johnny is born in 1952 in Oostende, Flanders, the Northern State of Belgium. High school: the Catholic boarding school in Oostende. College dropout. Speaks Dutch, English, French and German.

He married Claudine Van Massenhove in 1974. Johnny met Claudine at the age of 18 during political rallies for the Independence of Flanders. They have a libertarian freedom-loving streak that endures. Both are entrepreneurs who went on the start companies in Europe and in the USA. Before coming to the USA in 1994 Johnny had a career in Information Technology and owned with Claudine a successful IT-company in Belgium.

Turning forty, Johnny and Claudine wanted to radically change their life since they believe to live only once. They sold their IT Company and came to make a living in sunny Southern California creating the Global Beer Network. At the end of 2007, Johnny & Claudine sold their Global Beer Network company, which had become and still is the leading Belgian Beer importer in the USA. Taking advantage of their new freedom, Johnny & Claudine traveled the world meeting people and getting to appreciate other cultures on all continents.

Johnny is an avid reader since childhood. 90% of his reading is about history, politics and social issues. He writes for a European publication in Dutch and in English as a columnist about American politics, and he has written extensively about beer and travel. Johnny and Claudine live in Goleta, California.
