In The Pursuit Of Justice, A Prosecutor's Memoir
Lothar R. Genge, has written an easy to read, compelling, account of his life as a prosecutor. This extremely well written book will be enjoyed by both lawyers and laymen. In the process of revisiting some of his high-profile criminal cases, the book provides the reader with a front row seat into the intricacies of the prosecutorial system.
The book also details facts not found in the public records and discloses quirks of fate that often served as the basis for some of the cases. For example, a passenger already seated on board a plane at London's Heathrow Airport about to depart for Paris, decides to momentarily disembark to get a newspaper. As a direct result of this seemingly inconsequential act, the former Head of the Florida Marine Patrol, three prominent Miami/Fort Lauderdale attorneys, an Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year, and thirteen drug dealers all land in South Florida jails. The passenger himself ended up on Florida's death row.
All names, events and trials cited in this book are real. They are referenced in state and federal court records, newspaper publications and other public records.

About the Author

Brook Hart : “As Hawaii's First Chief Public Defender, representing accused indigent persons in state and federal courts, and having practiced as a private criminal defense attorney for more than fifty years, I found Lothar Genge’s book "In The Pursuit Of Justice" to be a highly readable memoir. It was interesting and, most importantly, provided readers with the basics of state prosecution in New York City and federal prosecution in Florida. Remarkably, Lothar delivered his descriptions of material that is often considered by laypersons to be technical and arcane, in a way that the average non-lawyer reader can clearly understand how the prosecutive function is discharged by a fair and evenhanded prosecutor. This book is well worth reading.”
