Overview

The king of Halcyon Ridge has been away at war for quite some time and is not expected to return anytime soon. His teenage brother, Prince Gabriel Faircross, must take his rightful place as the land's ruler. But before he can become king, Gabriel is put through a series of challenges to prove his worth.

The stress both of undergoing these tests and feeling pressure to be a kind, fair, generous-yet strict-king threatens to defeat Gabriel as he trudges onward. Adding to this is the distraction that a young girl provides . . . a girl who is not of royal blood but who has caught his eye and threatens to steal his heart.

Gabriel struggles on, determined to claim his rightful place as king. However, his cousin, Ayden Callisto, threatens to take away what the young prince has worked so hard for. Ayden also wants to sit on the throne and will stop at nothing to attain his goal.

Will Gabriel succeed in pushing his way to the top and being crowned king? Or will the pressures, distractions, and threat of sabotage thwart his goals?
