In Laodicea
Can a Christian story be serious and at the same time light-hearted? In tackling the sober issues surrounding the Christian believer during the end times as foretold in the New Testament Book of Revelation, "In Laodicea" takes an innovative "story book for grown-ups" approach to bring home serious truth. Through the use of simple wording and colorful illustration, the reader journeys through the fictional country of Laodicea, accompanied by a variety of bright and happy Laodicean citizens. Along the way, the lifestyles of the Laodiceans are revealed through a lively look at their schools, their government, their churches and their ways of dealing with family and relationship concerns. While touting a country filled with prosperity, tolerance and individual freedom, these fun-loving characters do not seem to notice that things are not always as they appear.
Many conservative Christians today say that they believe we are dwelling in the days just prior to the return of Jesus Christ and the "rapture" of His church, and to the advent of the dreaded apocalyptic scenarios described in Revelation chapters four through twenty-two. The questions on their minds are as follows: "Are we living in the end times?", "What happens to the United States of America?", and "Is Jesus really coming back soon?" For those who are not sure, or who want to take a closer look at how the prophecy concerning the Church at Laodicea from Revelation 3 relates to today, "In Laodicea" may be just the needed thing. An easy, short and enjoyable tale that reads like a child's illustrated story book, it brings home Christian truth simply and sincerely.
And for those Christians who want a gentle reminder that we must be alert, awake, and wise in these current days, and not lulled into complacency by the busyness of our lives and the prosperity around us, "In Laodicea" is a must.
