This manual meets its objective: of providing the reader, like a sort of cooking recipe, with guidelines and pearls about basic clinical evoked potentials in a very clear and concise manner. It is easily readable and could be a good introductory text for those who are beginning in the field of clinical evoked potentials. It is of great didactic value and could very well be recommended for teaching purposes.

Purpose: The author notes that while the test has somewhat fallen out of favor in neurology training, it is commonly used in research and can still have clinical utility if used properly. The author intends this book as a resource for clinicians learning and using sensory evoked potentials in the clinical setting.
Audience: The book is intended as learning material for residents and for clinical use by practitioners, particularly neurophysiologists. Neurointensivists also would find some benefit, as evoked potentials are sometimes used in the critical care setting.
Features: The first chapter is dedicated to the basics of sensory evoked potentials, setting the stage for subsequent chapters, which cover visual, brainstem auditory, somatosensory, and intraoperative evoked potentials. The book is clearly written and the cases have other imaging that correlates well with the evoked potential data. Cases are organized in a logical fashion, with discussions of amplitude, topography, morphology, indications for use, and abnormalities that can be noted. The images are of very high quality.
Assessment: The author has clearly compiled a comprehensive set of cases that demonstrate and teach evoked potentials and their clinical uses. Although it requires some prior knowledge and sophistication, the book is clear, concise, and thorough.
