About the Author

Sal Maiorana is a native of Buffalo, New York and a journalism graduate of Buffalo State College, class of 1984. He is currently in his 31st year as a sports writer for the Rochester (N.Y.) Democrat and Chronicle, and his primary beat for the past 27 years is coverage of the National Football League’s Buffalo Bills, making him the longest-tenured day-to-day beat writer in franchise history.

He is a 2009 inductee into the Frontier Field Walk of Fame which honors Rochester’s most decorated athletes, coaches, administrators, teams, and media personalities. He is also a two-time Rochester Press-Radio Club Sports Writer of the Year award winner, has been recognized once by the American Legion as Rochester's Sports Writer of the Year, once as the Rochester Media Association Established Professional honoree, and has won numerous New York State Publishers' Association and Gannett News Service citations for his work with the Democrat and Chronicle.

His freelance work has appeared in numerous publications and online web sites including The Sporting News, Golf World, Golf Week, USGA Journal, USA Today, PGA Magazine, Lacrosse Magazine, NFL.com, CBS Sportsline, and Pro Sports Exchange.
