If Not For The Knight (Knights Are Forever, #1)

This is the first book in the Knights Are Forever series and takes place in 1066, when the Normans brutally defeat the Saxons and William the Conqueror is crowned the King of England.

Even though their country now belongs to William, the Saxons continue to rebel against his rule. But they are no match for the seasoned Norman knights who ruthlessly put down the rebellions.

Against his wishes, Calder Wyndym, one of the king's most valued knights, becomes Overlord of a small village in the North. He is tasked to build a castle to protect the King's lands and to find a way for everyone under his protection to learn to live together peacefully.

Calder endeavors to follow his King's decree but, in the process of doing so, he gives his heart to a lovely, young Saxon woman. Their relationship causes an even deeper rift between the Normans and Saxons.

Will the strength of their love be able to overcome the hatred and prejudice? Or will the deceit, disrespect and betrayals from both sides tear the lovers apart?

About the Author

Debbie Boek is an independent author who lives in upstate New York. She has published three books in the Devereaux Chronicles series, Devil’s Bait, Devil’s Retribution and Devil’s Gathering. They are supernatural thrillers with different spirits or cryptids in each story, ghosts, demons, witches, and even Bigfoot come to visit.

She has also published three historical romance novels, Sommers’ Folly, If Not For The Knight and When The Knight Falls.

Although her original passion was for historical romances, horror in general, and ghost stories more specifically, are her favorite, which is how the Devereaux Chronicles series came to be.

Even though she has a great deal of fun writing the Devereaux Chronicles, she does periodically have to return to her roots to research and write another historical romance novel.
