Overview

In the 1960s, Ian stays with his aunt in California, awaiting the outcome of his mother's risky surgery. Alone, afraid, and far from home, he starts 4th grade at a new school. Hiding from a bully, he gets locked inside the school one weekend. There, he finds an ancient journal of a boy who a century before survived the California Gold Rush, a ship-wreck, and the Civil War. As Ian reads of William Chase's bravery, he gains confidence to face his new life. Ian's Golden Passage is inspired by the true story of the S.S. Central America and its buried California gold beneath the ocean.
Ian's Golden Passage is Tanya's third pub-lished work. Her first book, Ten Chimneys, was about a little girl growing up in the kettle moraine of Wisconsin. Her second book, A Grandparent's Right, was written for grandparents who are raising their grandchildren. She lives in Yorba Linda, CA, with her blended family: her husband, her daughter, her granddaughter, her dog, Moose, and a hamster, a bird, and a fish.
Constance trains teachers in our California elementary schools. She has been an educator most of her life. She is a part-time faculty member at California State University in Fullerton, CA. Constance has two grown children, Bo and Audra, and lives in Yorba Linda, CA, with her husband, Eric.
