About the Author

Monique is well-known for her long-term career as an Award-winning public relations and marketing expert. Over the past few years, she has become a leading advocate in developing early childhood education initiatives in underrepresented communities and fiercely promoting the advantages of diversity in early development learning.

Monique T. Joseph is 17-year entrepreneur veteran in public relations, communications and marketing. She attended the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana and later graduated from DePaul University with a Bachelors of Arts in Communications. Several years later returned to complete her Masters of Science in Public Administration Management.

While pregnant with her daughter in 2012 she founded her third company Urban Mommy Inc which works to inspire mothers all over the country. From her extensive writing on all things parenting, motherhood and life, some of the works were published in local and national magazines. After the birth of her daughter, she would soon begin her greatest work of affirming a strong, powerful and fearless daughter. She wanted to instill a passion for education, reading, loving herself and life. Soon, she was inspired by her daughters excitement towards learning and life and later began to chronicle those learning years.

Monique’s own fire and passion for reading and writing increased. Her daughters laughter, love for learning and passion of life helped to shape her vision of children’s literature inspired by images of cultural appreciation of black children. This turned into a series of writings entitled Zoie’s Adventures, which brings to life a toddler African-American girl who wears Afro-puffs and loves to share her everyday discoveries as she learns new lessons.

Monique shares her life with the two most important people in her world… her husband Sheldon and daughter Zoie. She is currently seeking additional distribution for her series of children’s books.
