Overview

Pianist Art Monroe only made three records in his career before his premature death in 1988. This LP, his second (and the first of two for V.S.O.P.), is a fine showcase for the pianist in a trio with bassist Paul Langosch and drummer Mike Smith. Monroe performs five originals and two standards, and the interplay between the fine pianist and his sidemen is impressive. ~ Scott Yanow
