Overview

The book is a collection of 20 personal narratives detailing experiences both in India and the US and goes back 1000 years to the origins of Sri Vaishnavism ( a subsect of Hinduism) to the need for creating new jobs in the US during President Obama's 2nd term.

I married my cousin! is one among the 20 narratives and looks at the trend of cousin marriages among South Asians from a medical and legal perspective.

Preface:

I love putting pen to paper and have been able to write mediocre essays and reports at will. I seriously considered going into journalism but opted for a degree in engineering instead. I was paid a royal sum of Rs. 150 ($3) for the weekly Industrial column at the “Star of Mysore” two decades ago and recently have gotten some likes for a couple of my diaries at the Dailykos.com blog. Six months back when the English teacher of my High School Senior son asked me to write a letter of advice, little did I know that it would light a spark and also endless hours of rewrites and edits!

I felt that it was time to remember the friends and family who have helped me over the years and start to thank them. What better way than to dedicate a narrative to them? A few answers and lot of questions abound in this set of 20 personal narratives giving you inkling on my thoughts and ideas. Religion, family, politics, cricket, fitness, travel, Facebook and even an approach to performance appraisals all find mention in the book you are holding now.

About the Author

If there was a Risk Takers Anonymous group similar to Gamblers Anonymous, my wife Priya would have forced me to attend it years back! I am addicted to taking on the next challenge or opportunity coming my way and my maxim is that you have but one life, why not don different hats to experience it?
Having worked and consulted in varying roles with a modicum of success in Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, New Product Introduction, IT, Safety, Sales and Marketing, I am now a self certified packer and mover as well!

I have been married for 19 to the aforementioned long suffering Priya (my first cousin) and we have two sons, Sriniketh (18) and Srinikesh (6)

I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering, a Post Graduate Diploma in Materials Management and am a certified Oracle Manufacturing Expert. I also had certifications in OSHA and Safety which have since lapsed.

I have also self-diagnosed myself as having mild symptoms of Asperger’s Syndrome. I shuttle between the US and India depending on the vagaries and interpretations of US immigration laws by its consular officers.

More in the book! Happy reading everybody!
