About the Author

Christy Kim, a second-generation Korean American from Houston, TX, is a dedicated advocate for educational equality and representation for Asians. Raised in a family shaped by her sacrificial grandparents' and parents' migration from Korea, Christy's upbringing was deeply influenced by both Korean heritage and American opportunities. Fluent in English and Korean, she is the eldest of four siblings, embodying the values of hard work and perseverance passed down through generations. With a rich background in 5 years of education and experience as a dance instructor, Christy is also a proud Teach for America alumni. Her passion extends beyond the classroom as she is committed to combating educational inequality and challenging Asian stereotypes. Through her teaching, she strives to instill respect, kindness, creativity, and growth mindset in her students. Christy is married and actively trying to conceive, with plans to name her future child Haneul. Her first children's book, inspired by this child, reflects her dedication to fostering a world where all children can see themselves represented, valued, and loved.
