This is Selina's first young children's book. I Like Pink! A Story About Self-Acceptance is inspired by her son. Selina enjoys writing stories that will make her audience reflect, inspire people to rise to their best selves, and inject a feeling of joy. Selina Hernandez is a writer and performance artist who uses theatre arts, spoken word, and song in her work. The pieces she writes tend to focus on her life experiences as a Latina woman, a mother, and as a New Yorker. Selina was born and raised in NYC.

I truly fell in love with this book. From the art to the dialogue to the sweet characters, everything about I Like Pink! was just amazing. One of my favorite parts of the book was certainly the illustrations by Georgia Pavan; the style reminded me of using crayons in a coloring book, and I really enjoyed looking at the pictures on each page. I also appreciated the fact that this book embraced the idea of self-acceptance. Everyone is sure to find something in this book that they love!

The illustrations are beautiful. The theme of the book is wonderful. We need more positive children's books. I really appreciated how the story depicted the children supporting each other, even when they liked different things. This showed support for others. I especially liked when the children told how they liked themselves.In a world where there is so much bullying and treating each other badly, children need to be taught to like themselves and accept differences in others.
