About the Author

Emily Brafman is a native New Yorker who has spent every summer in her family's house on Fire Island. She currently lives in New York City with her husband, son, and daughter. The special thing about Fire Island is nothing really changes, and Emily now watches her children do the very same things that she once did as a child on Fire Island.

Emily studied sociology and art in undergrad. I Know a Place came to life in one of her grad school classes when she was given the assignment to write a children's book. She went on to get her Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education as well as Special Education. She is currently a nursery school teacher as well as a 1:1 special educator. She is thrilled to add author to her bio and is already working on her second book!
