About the Author

Being a member of a marginalized community, Ms. Abidi believes in using the anti-racism and anti-oppression framework lens in resources that reflect her students' identities, where they can see themselves. She shares her lived experiences with her students, to which they can relate. Ms. Abidi feels that all students can learn and be successful according to their abilities and it is only possible when we provide them with a happy, safe, and inclusive learning environment with no barriers. She has worked with many diverse learners, including ELL, and students with special needs, e.g., ASD, ADHD, or behavior needs, diagnosed or undiagnosed. She has also worked with students with different intersectionalities, e.g., EL learners with a diagnosis of ASD.

Ms. Abidi has taught in Canada for the last ten years and is a lifelong learner. After her Bachelor of Education at the University of Ottawa, Ms. Abidi completed her Master of Education in Assessment and Evaluation from Queens University. She is a Special Education Specialist and has completed additional qualifications in English as a Second Language, Mathematics, Family Studies, Social Science, and Teaching Students with Communication Needs (ASD).

Ms. Abidi resides in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, with her husband and three children.
