Malaysian-born musician and entrepreneur Karen Lim-Smith offers a comprehensive and all-inclusive resource replete with anecdotal clips, ceremonial programs from weddings past, programmatic pointers, thematic tips, and symbolic set lists to assist couples as they journey through this once-in-a-lifetime process to planning wedding selections customized for the wedding of their dreams. Serving as the go-to person in all matters relating to artistic programs, sheet music inventory, recruitment, schedule coordination, talent development, public relations, management, operations and sales, Karen manages Serenata Strings, a professional entertainment entity that has provided live music to thousands, averaging 300 per year. Along with her husband Jay Smith on guitar, they performed for the PNC Bank-Patio Sessions on July 28, 2022 at the AT&T Performing Arts Center (ATTPAC) followed by the ATTPAC Gala Night on Nov. 19, 2022 and Nov. 18, 2023. They returned to ATTPAC to perform for four pre-shows to Fiddler on the Roof from May 11-13, 2023. As recording artists, they recorded Hits on Ten featuring the violin and guitar. She has been performing with the National Association of Composers USA National Concert (NACUSA) since 2008. In 2009, she presented the world premiere performance of "Wayang" for solo violin, composed by Wieslaw V. Rentowski at the Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. The following year, she presented the world premiere performance of "Appassionato" for violin and piano composed by Rentowski at the University of San Marcos, Texas. Her performance of "Wayang" is featured on Wieslaw Rentowski: Solo & Chamber Music, released by Navona Records in August 2021. On Sept. 27, 2022, she presented the world premiere of Rentowski's Triptych — 1945 with world-renowned soprano Dominika Zamara and Dr. Cameron Hofmann from Baylor University at the Dallas Latino Cultural Center sponsored by the City of Dallas Office of Arts & Culture. She is the orchestra director at Founders Classical Academy-Lewisville as well as co-owner of Music Starz Studios with a studio of thirty music students per year.
