Overview

UPDATE: Due to a decision by the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, as of May 19th, 2017 drones for recreational use no longer require registration. The FAA is currently reviewing the ruling and their options before announcing their next course of action. Commercial use drones STILL REQUIRE REGISTRATION. I will update the book when the FAA announces their next move.

As of March 31st, 2016 almost all unmanned aircraft in the United States needed to be registered. Failure to comply could result in fines up to $250,000 and 3 years in prison. This book breaks the regulations down, explaining them in plain English. It also goes into detail on them, giving the background on how and why they are written the way they are in 14 CFR Part 48. Finally, the book includes a quick start guide which will walk you through the registration process.

Whether you are a hobbyist with years flying replica airplanes or a photographer thinking of getting into a new drone photography business this book lays out the regulations on registering and marking your aircraft.
