In the days of youth, at sixteen's dawn,
A boy named David, carrying a Bible, drawn,
Curiosity sparked, questions unfurled,
Life's mysteries pondered, in this bustling world.
With earnest eyes, I turned to him,
Seeking wisdom's light, dimmed within,
He welcomed me warmly, to his church I'd go,
Where seeds of truth, in fertile hearts would sow.
There, a preacher's voice, with fervor spoke,
Of sin's heavy burden, and hearts it broke,
In fear and longing, my soul did cry,
To tread the path, where heavenly realms lie.
A sinner, I stood, with deeds untamed,
In need of redemption, my spirit proclaimed,
Yearning for heaven's gate, where angels trod,
I raised my hand, declaring my need for God.
The preacher's words, like a gentle breeze,
Unveiled the path, to set my soul at ease,
To be a Christian, in belief I'd find,
That Jesus' death paid for sins of every kind.
With bated breath, I bowed my head,
Accepting the gift, that Christ's love spread,
In prayer's embrace, forgiveness found,
A life transformed, on holy ground.
Over fifty years have danced their tune,
Through mountaintops, valleys, beneath the moon,
Jesus, my guide, my anchor, my friend,
With hope and strength, my life He'll mend.
And one day, in heaven's embrace I'll dwell,
With Jesus and others, whose stories tell,
Of faith's embrace, and salvation's art,
Bound together, forever, never to part.
Oh, the gift of Jesus, so wondrous and true,
An eternal promise, for me and for you,
Through the passage of time, His love remains,
With unwavering hope, our souls He sustains.
