Historical background, such as ancient Greek beliefs about lightning (Cloud), is included where relevant. Both benefits and pitfalls are presented as needed. For example, in Electricity, the benefits of hydroelectric power are explained, as are the potentially negative environmental consequences of dam construction. This series does a first-rate job answering some important scientific questions.
